In the neighbouring state of Telangana, two separate horrific road accidents in Sangareddy district have claimed a total of nine lives. In one of the tragic incidents, a tanker collided with an e-auto near Satwar in Mogudampally Mandal, resulting in the deaths of seven people from Karnataka on the spot.
The victims were travelling in the e-auto when the tanker rammed into the vehicle, causing a devastating crash. Authorities rushed to the scene and initiated rescue and investigation efforts. The accident is among the deadliest reported in the district recently.
The first and deadliest accident took place near Satwar village in Mogudampally Mandal in that area. According to police officials, an e-auto carrying a group of migrant labourers was struck by a speeding tanker and ended up in a devastating collision. Seven people died on the spot, and several of them sustained serious injuries.
Authorities identified the deceased as labour workers from Rajagiri village in Karnataka’s Bidar district. And 14 workers were in the e-auto when the accident took place, according to reports. They were in the same state to work at the time when the tanker crashed into their vehicle with such force.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the e-auto was badly damaged, leaving many passengers with little chance of survival. Emergency responders and residents rushed to the scene to help the victims. Police personnel also arrived promptly and started rescue operations.
Several injured passengers were transferred to the Zaheerabad Area Hospital for medical treatment. Hospital sources said at least one of the injured victims is in critical condition and the death toll could rise. Doctors are carefully monitoring the condition of the injured and providing necessary treatment.
Police have registered a case and started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary evidence suggests negligence or excessive speed might have been responsible, but further investigation is needed, officials said.
In another road accident the same day, a fatal road accident near Kaveli village in Kohir Mandal in Sangareddy district occurred. A car travelling from Bidar towards Hyderabad lost control and crashed into other vehicles on the road.
Witnesses said the car was moving at a high speed, and the driver lost control and collided in a chain collision. Two people died, and several others were injured in the crash at varying degrees of severity.
The rescue teams and the police quickly reached the site and took the injured to nearby hospitals. Some of the injured victims are in very serious condition and are receiving intensive medical treatment, medical officials said.
The twin tragedies have sent shock waves across Telangana and neighbouring Karnataka, with many of the victims belonging to Bidar district. Families of the victims are mourning the sudden death of their loved ones, and authorities are still trying to help the injured and complete all legalities.
Experts in road safety have repeatedly warned of speeding, reckless overtaking, driver fatigue and carelessness on highways. The highways in Telangana are full of traffic every day, and accidents involving commercial vehicles and passenger transport have become a major problem for law enforcement agencies.
The two accidents in Sangareddy district bring home once again the need for better road safety, responsible driving and more public awareness. Authorities have urged people to be safe on the road and prioritise safety to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
