Maha Shivaratri (Feb 15): A Sunday is the central festival for the year. Though most states designate it a public holiday, the bank closure comes at the same time as a week off. Thus there is no extra week of work for most regions.

Regional Specifics:

During Shiv Jayanti, a mid-week break, Maharashtra residents will get a break. Those situated in the Northeast—Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram in particular—will see closures from Feb 18 through Feb 20 for Losar and Statehood days alike.

The Saturday Rule:

According to RBI policy, banks are closed on the Second Saturday (Feb 14) and Fourth Saturday (Feb 28). Branches will operate as usual on the first, third, and fifth (if applicable) Saturdays.

Note: Banking vacations vary greatly from state to state. It is always good to refer to your local branch or the official RBI website to get region-specific notifications.
