The worst road accident ever happened near Badekola Math, Belagavi district of Karnataka, and by accident, a big truck overturned while it was headed on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway. The truck flipped onto its side, not only causing traffic to become extremely busy and vehicles to be unable to move, but also causing many motorists to be stranded and frustrated.
According to preliminary evidence, the accident took place after the truck driver lost control of the heavy truck because of the extremely slippery road conditions due to the rain-soaked road. He overturned the truck straight on the highway and blocked all lanes, and cars were stuck in traffic blocking them, so they were stuck. A few hours later, the driver of the truck had to wait for the road to be cleared and the situation to calm down.
When they learned of the accident, police officers from the Hirebagewadi Police Station rushed to the scene and immediately started rescue efforts. They arranged traffic management to mitigate the chaos. They searched the site of the accident to understand what happened and tried to clear the damaged vehicle from the road so as to get back to normal traffic as quickly as possible.
Fortunately, there are no reports of injuries. But the chief of police said that the extent of the damage (or not) of the accident is not yet known, “and therefore the driver’s condition will not be well known until the investigation is complete.” It is a very careful approach, and it would be a very bad thing now if we were to judge things on a scale like we currently do.
This unfortunate accident illustrates the increasing safety issues on this particular stretch of Pune-Bengaluru Highway. Residents were worried and said that this is the sixth road accident reported near Badekola Math in the past week, and this is raising serious issues about the safety of the road.
The persistent and heavy rainfall in the region has led to hazardous driving conditions as roads have become slick and treacherous. The road surface is becoming slippery, and the risk of sliding or losing control of vehicles is increasing with the rain continuing to increase dramatically, as we have been seeing more torrential rain and the road conditions get wet in the region. The traffic police have issued immediate warnings to drivers and traffic police have issued extreme warnings to drivers to drive with extreme caution. Drivers should slow down, stay away from other vehicles, reduce their speed when it is raining, and follow highway safety guidelines.
The overturned truck will be removed from the highway soon, and traffic is moving again on the busy street. Work is going on to get people back on the road soon, the police said.
