Bengaluru residents with issues associated with Cauvery water supply, drinking water availability, or other Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) services will have a chance to directly express their concerns to senior officials today.
The BWSSB is organizing a live phone-in programme from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. The public can directly speak to the BWSSB Chairperson, Dr N. Manjula, about water-related issues in their neighbourhoods.
This is to give residents a direct platform to raise concerns about drinking water supply and other services provided by the city water utility.
Bengaluru Residents Can Call BWSSB
We have encouraged residents to participate in a phone-in programme for those in Bengaluru who are experiencing issues with Cauvery water supply and other BWSSB services.
People can call the telephone numbers during the one-hour programme and state their concerns directly. Water interruptions, drinking water shortages, or other service issues are well suited for this initiative.
The two telephone numbers provided by the BWSSB for the programme are:
080-22945119
080-22229639
The residents will be encouraged to use these numbers during the next call-in session to complain to the city staff.
The Chairperson of BWSSB will hear public complaints
BWSSB Chairperson Dr N. Manjula will also meet and speak to public members as the programme is going on as well. She’ll hear the complaints and will be searching for water problems in other parts of Bengaluru.
The direct interaction is aimed at helping officials to understand problems at the local level and finding issues affecting residents in the other parts of the city.
Water supply is still a major civic concern in Bengaluru, which is experiencing a fast-growing population and increasing demand for drinking water. Cauvery water is the major source of the city's water supply and BWSSB is responsible for water management and distribution and services related to it.
Residents can raise local water issues.
The phone-in programme also allows residents to bring a particular local problem to the attention of the water board.
Residents with problems with Cauvery water supply, drinking water or other BWSSB services can use the programme to explain the nature of their complaint.
Those who are going to contact will need to have some information about their area and water issue for that particular problem. The location of the affected area can be clearly identified.
The programme will also give officials direct feedback from residents, as opposed to just routine complaints and departmental reports.
One-Hour Public Interaction
The BWSSB phone-in will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am today. As the interaction is limited to one hour, residents who want to call in have been advised to call in during the scheduled period.
The initiative comes as Bengaluru is focusing on reliable drinking water supply and complaints about civic water services.
Citizens who have experienced persistent water supply issues can therefore use the direct phone-in facility to communicate their concerns to the BWSSB leadership.
The water board has appealed to people facing problems with drinking water supply and other BWSSB services in different parts of Bengaluru to make use of the opportunity.
