Last night, Bengaluru had heavy rainfall, with thunder and lightning hitting the city’s areas disrupting morning traffic and heavy traffic jams in many areas of Bengaluru due to the heavy rain.
Many important areas like Majestic, KR Market, Chamarajpet, Shantinagar, Vijayanagar, Kengeri, Deepanjalinagar, Rajajinagar, Banashankari, Girinagar, Madivala, Konanakunte, RBI Layout, Kumaraswamy Layout, Richmond Circle, MG Road, Nandini Layout, Sheshadripuram and Malleswaram were hit by heavy rain overnight. The city woke up to flooded roads, slow-moving traffic and accidents, and tree falls in different parts of the city.
The heavy rains continued until the early hours of the morning, and water accumulated on several key roads. People who had to navigate flooded roads in the morning found themselves in the middle of traffic congestion and traffic jams from many places, said drivers reported. Bengaluru Traffic Police issued alerts and updates on social media. Drivers were advised to avoid driving in the rain and not drive in flooded areas, authorities said.
Traffic Movement Severely Affected
The waterlogging near Karthik Nagar also delayed vehicle movement in Kadubeesanahalli, traffic police said. Traffic on the city roads and on the urban roads to Kadubeesanahalli was slow too, on the other side of the city. At Srinivagilu, rainwater accumulation has also blocked the flow of traffic in both directions on the Air View route, creating long lines of vehicles in the morning rush.

On the other hand, commuters travelling through Thanisandra had long delays on both sides of the road leading to Nagawara. There was also waterlogging around Balagere Circle and slow traffic on the road to Kadubeesanahalli. Cars were also slow in the vicinity of Balagere Circle, and there was slow traffic snaking along roads leading to Geddalahalli. Many of the low-lying areas in the city had a lot of water in them, so driving was difficult for drivers.
The situation was worse on Vidyashilp, where rainwater stagnation delayed traffic at the Coffee Day junction and on the road leading to the Coffee Day junction. Traffic officials kept an eye on things and urged drivers to keep a safe distance and focus in mind while travelling on flooded roads.

Tree fall damages vehicles in Malleswaram
The persistent rain also caused a tree-fall incident in Malleswaram. A big tree collapsed onto a road and damaged two parked cars. No injuries were reported in Malleswaram. Emergency workers were notified to clear the fallen tree and restore traffic flow in the area.
There were also major traffic snarls in Whitefield, Marathahalli, and other parts of Bengaluru. Office-goers and school commuters were getting stuck in long lines of road-bound vehicles struggling through waterlogged roads and traffic congestion.
Highway Accident Reported Near Madanayakanahalli
An accident also took place earlier in the morning on the Bengaluru-Nelamangala National Highway near Madanayakanahalli. The accident happened shortly after reduced visibility and water-covered road surfaces reportedly contributed to the crash.
An Eicher truck collided with a 108 ambulance after drivers could not clearly see the road conditions in the heavy rains. Traffic police from Chikkabanavara rushed to the scene and worked to remove both vehicles from the highway and restore traffic flow. The extent of the injuries has not yet been officially confirmed.
Weather officials have warned that rainfall activity may continue in parts of Bengaluru over the coming days. Residents of Bengaluru are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and traffic advisories before planning their travel.
