Police said the suspect was carrying a large quantity of contraband, including gutka and liquor, when officers attempted to stop his vehicle at the check post.

Police Attempt to Stop Suspicious Vehicle

Authorities stationed at the Jujuwadi checkpoint became suspicious after noticing the car behaving unusually while approaching the border. Officers signaled the driver to stop for inspection, but instead of complying, the driver allegedly attempted to speed away from the checkpoint.

At that moment, Head Constable Rajiv Gandhi reportedly moved in front of the car to block the vehicle. However, the accused did not stop and instead accelerated the car, forcing the police officer onto the bonnet.

In a dramatic and dangerous moment, the police officer was seen hanging onto the bonnet while the vehicle continued to move along the busy highway. Despite heavy traffic and the obvious risk to the officer’s life, the driver allegedly kept driving in an attempt to escape.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as terrifying, as the vehicle sped along the highway with the officer struggling to hold on. Fortunately, the officer managed to survive the ordeal without sustaining life-threatening injuries.

Contraband Worth Over ₹2.2 Lakh Seized

After a brief chase, police managed to intercept the vehicle with assistance from officers of the Hosur SIPCOT Police. The accused was taken into custody immediately.

During a search of the car, officers reportedly recovered around 390 kilograms of illegal gutka and liquor, with an estimated value of ₹2.20 lakh. Authorities confirmed that the goods were being smuggled across the state border.

Accused Arrested, Case Registered

The police have registered a case against the accused on multiple charges, including illegal transport of banned substances, attempt to endanger a public servant, and reckless driving.

Officials praised the courage of the head constable who risked his life while trying to stop the suspect. Authorities also warned that strict action will be taken against individuals involved in smuggling and those who attempt to evade law enforcement.

The accused has now been sent to judicial custody as investigations continue into the illegal supply network behind the contraband.
