The incident, which unfolded within the Sampigehalli police station limits, is one of several back-to-back road rage cases reported in the same jurisdiction, highlighting a worrying trend of aggression on city roads.
The Incident: Chase and Assault
The confrontation occurred around 11:30 AM on Tuesday near Hegde Nagar, which falls under the Sampigehalli Police Station limits.
- The Chase: The BMTC bus, route-bound from Shivajinagar to Yelahanka, allegedly made slight contact with the private cab. Infuriated by the minor touch, the cab driver, identified as Narasimhaiah, reportedly chased the public transport bus for approximately one kilometer.
- Verbal and Physical Abuse: Once the bus stopped, Narasimhaiah entered the vehicle and launched a verbal and physical assault on the bus driver, Nagesh, and conductor, Kenkappa. - Captured on Camera: The entire sequence of the road rage incident and the subsequent assault was filmed on mobile phones by the bus passengers, providing crucial evidence of the cab driver's aggressive behavior.
Police Action and Arrest
Immediately following the assault, the BMTC driver, Nagesh, demonstrated quick presence of mind by steering the bus directly to the Sampigehalli Police Station.
Sampigehalli Police swiftly took action, registering a case based on the complaint and the evidence provided by the BMTC staff and passengers. The accused cab driver, Narasimhaiah, was taken into custody shortly after the bus arrived at the station.
