Bengaluru Karaga celebrations have started in Bengaluru with the sacred Camphor Puja happening on 1 April. The Flower Karaga will occur at midnight on 2 April and will move through the city at 12:30 AM.
Traffic Diversions in Place
Given this high volume of celebrations, traffic police will conduct road closures and diversions from 9 PM on April 1 on Market Circle to 7 AM on April 2 at Mysore Bank Circle.
To curb congestion, motorists should avoid these roads and opt for less busy streets for traveling with little through traffic, such as SP Road, Town Hall, and Kempegowda Road.
Additionally, during the procession, Akkipete and OTC Main Road will be completely closed to vehicles. Drivers must plan their routes ahead and follow police advice.
Police Review Security Arrangements
Seemanth Kumar Singh visited Dharmaraya Swamy Temple for the security preparations on the big day. He was accompanied by senior officials, including Joint Commissioner Vamsi Krishna and DCPs Akshay and Yatheesh N.
Tight Security with CCTV Surveillance
The Karaga procession will cover about 22 kilometers in the central and western areas of Bengaluru, said Commissioner Singh. Cameras are also being installed along the route to monitor the procession and to prevent any untoward incidents as well.
The police have 2,000 officers on hand to ensure the security of crowds and traffic around the event, and they are implementing additional measures to prevent incidents from occurring.
The Bengaluru Karaga is one of the city’s signature cultural events and draws hundreds of thousands of devotees each year. The city police have warned the public to take road safety precautions while enjoying the festival.
