Early reports held that Kiran was employed at a private company, and the woman worked with him. Their friendship had already turned into a romance with him, so they also dated in the future, their old acquaintance said. On such a date, Kiran visited a woman's house in town with her mother and brother.

The suspect named Kiran arrived at the house with petrol in tow, saying he had expected to go there. The woman had allowed him to talk to her personally at home. But that discussion was followed by an argument between them. Kiran reportedly started throwing petrol on himself with one hand and burned himself.

That is to say, he also wished to set fire to the woman just then, in that same scene of bewilderment, although she escaped with just a few little burns. Neighbours and nearby locals rushed to the scene, and they saw the noise and called the police. The woman had received immediate attention after, apparently, escaping injuries.

Kiran was badly burned and removed to the hospital. His condition is severe, but officials are waiting for official medical updates. The police, from the Byadarahalli Police Station, started responding to the scene with an initial investigation. “There is a complaint made; they are only now beginning to come together to try to understand what really happened and why.

Investigators are also looking into how and if there was a physical fight or threat between the two and whether the suspect had planned his work. That this isn’t entirely impulsive, and that there was some petrol in there, we should presume. But, as with plenty of troubling cases, it’s all too easy when personal differences, misunderstandings, and unresolved issues flash onto the table and explode with violence.

Experts stress the need for emotional self-regulation, conflict resolution and getting help when relationships disintegrate be prioritised. The officers advised authorities that they should sound the alarm if they saw that the relationship was shortly about to show signs that it was in danger or, in certain cases, might suffer damage, and how treatment much earlier in life could go a long way in preventing these tragedies from happening in the first place, in that they provided some security after it arrived, the officers said.
