According to the power utility’s schedule, electricity supply will be temporarily suspended in several areas for several hours to facilitate maintenance and related work at different substations.

The affected localities, offices, shops and businesses should plan their activities.

Arehalli areas to be power cut from 10 AM to 4 PM

The 66/11 kV Arehalli substation will undergo maintenance work, and power will be interrupted from 10 am to 4 pm on August 19.

That would mean residents of the affected areas could experience about six hours of power disruption.

The areas to be affected are Arehalli, Ittamadu, AGS Layout, Chikkalasandra, T.G. Layout, Bhuvaneshwari Nagar, ISRO Layout and ISRO Layout Industrial Area.

Other neighbourhoods around the substation will also be affected, like Kumaraswamy Layout, Vittal Nagar, Vikram Nagar and Yelachenahalli.

In Chikkalasandra Village, Kadirena Halli, Naidu Layout and AGS Layout, residents have been advised to prepare for the temporary interruption.

People working from home may need to charge laptops and other devices ahead of time, and shops and small businesses dependent on electricity may need to make alternative arrangements.

Nandini Layout Substation Areas Also Affected

Another major power interruption has been scheduled in areas supplied by the Nandini Layout substation.

KPTCL maintenance will affect a few localities under the N-7 subdivision of the Peenya division. The power supply interruption is expected to be from 10 am to 1 pm, resulting in an outage of about three hours.

Among the affected areas are Subramanya Nagar, Milk Colony in A, B, C and D blocks, Gayathri Nagar, Krishnananda Nagar, RMC Yard and Marappanapalya.

Residents and businesses in these localities are advised to do some essential electricity-dependent work before maintenance is performed.

Yeshwanthpur Industrial Area and surrounding Localities

But the outage may also affect several major residential and commercial areas around Yeshwanthpur.

According to the schedule, areas like Yeshwanthpur Industrial Area, Telephone Exchange, Shankaranagar, Srikanteshwara Nagar, Someshwara Nagar, APMC Yard and Mahalakshmi Layout are expected to be interrupted.

Other locations affected include Ganesh Block, Anjaneya Temple Road, Saraswatipuram, AGB Layout, Parimala Nagar, Srinivasa Nagar and Jaimaruthi Nagar.

Businesses and industrial establishments in those areas may be temporarily disrupted.

JC Nagar and Nearby areas

Some parts of JC Nagar are also expected to suffer a power outage during the maintenance period.

The affected areas include Ravi Layout, Sakamma Layout, BHEL Layout, J.S. Nagar, J.C. Nagar, Kurubarahalli and areas around 60 Feet Road.

The outage is also expected to cover parts of JC Nagar's 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th Main Roads.

Other locations in the affected zone include PWD, EWS and AMR Quarters in JC Nagar, Rajkumar Samadhi Road, Geleyara Balaga surroundings, Sriram Nagar, Muneeshwara Block and the 1st Main Road in JC Nagar.

More Localities could be disrupted

Residents of Satyanarayana Layout, MICO Layout and Happy Homes and surrounding areas are advised to prepare for the power interruption in those areas.

People living in these neighbourhoods can take simple precautions such as charging mobile phones, laptops, power banks and other essential devices before the outage begins.

Households that use electrically powered equipment should also be planning for that.

Maintenance work aimed at improving the power network.

The scheduled interruptions are related to emergency maintenance work being carried out by KPTCL. Such maintenance activities are carried out to improve the safety, reliability, and performance of the electricity transmission network.

Power supply will probably resume after the scheduled work has been completed. But the restoration time may depend on the nature of the work and any unforeseen technical needs.

Hospitals, offices, commercial establishments and small industries in the affected areas may have to consider backup power facilities to minimize disruption.

Residents should monitor the time of the scheduled work and plan their schedule. The temporary shutdown is to allow maintenance work to take place and, in the long run, to have a more reliable power supply.
