Bengaluru: Six Peacocks Found Dead in Nelamangala, Poisoning Suspected

In a disturbing incident, six peacocks the national bird of India were found dead under suspicious circumstances in Nelamangala near Bengaluru.

According to reports, the bodies of the birds were discovered near a garden shed in Bilal Nagar area of Nelamangala. Local residents spotted the carcasses lying at the same spot and immediately alerted authorities.

Police from the Nelamangala Town Police visited the location and conducted a preliminary inspection. The incident has raised concerns among locals and wildlife officials. Residents also informed the Karnataka Forest Department, whose officials are expected to conduct further investigation and examine the cause of death.

Since all six peacocks were found dead in one place, authorities suspect the birds might have died due to poisoning. However, the exact reason will be confirmed only after a detailed investigation and possible post-mortem examination of the birds.

Peacocks are protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and harming them is considered a serious offence in India. Officials have begun collecting evidence from the spot and are trying to determine whether the birds were deliberately poisoned or died due to accidental consumption of toxic substances.

The shocking discovery has caused concern among wildlife lovers and residents in Nelamangala, who are demanding strict action if foul play is confirmed.
