Panic gripped parts of southwest Bengaluru on Sunday night after a group of unidentified men allegedly went on a stabbing spree at several places in the Uttarahalli area and sent several people to hospital. Police confirmed that the attacks appeared to be related to the same group of attackers who had machetes and long knives.
According to the police, the attacks started around 9 pm near Maramma Circle in Hosahalli. A group of six to seven men arrived via three to four motorcycles and attacked four friends who were standing by the roadside.
Two of the victims, Kiran N and Kiran H, suffered cut injuries during the assault. One of them was admitted to a hospital for further treatment, while the other was discharged after being first helped.
The attackers left the area soon after the first incident and moved towards Arehalli Gate on Uttarahalli Main Road. The group targeted people gathered outside a fish stall, leading to another attack within minutes of the first incident.
Two men, Raju and Ravi, were injured in the second assault. Ravi suffered serious injuries to his ear and hand and needed medical treatment.
The incidents led police officers from the Subramanyapura Police Station to reach the locations and begin an investigation. Statements from the injured victims were recorded at hospitals where they were receiving treatment.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Dr Soumyalatha confirmed the attacks occurred at two locations and said police teams were working to trace the suspects.
According to the DCP, the first attack took place near Maramma Circle when the alleged attackers arrived on motorcycles and assaulted Kiran N and his friends without any apparent motive. The same group then went towards Arehalli and attacked Raju and Ravi near the fish stall.
Police have already identified four suspects in connection with the incidents. Three special teams have been appointed under the Subramanyapura police limits to trace and apprehend those allegedly involved in the attacks.
They are now focused on establishing the reasons that led to the attacks, identifying the people involved, and what led to the attacks. No motive is known at the present time, the police said.
Machetes and long knives on the attack sites are also a concern to residents in the affected areas. The fact that these attacks took place at two different points in a short time has also triggered the police to take up search efforts for the suspects.
Investigators will check available CCTV footage of the Maramma Circle, Uttarahalli Main Road and Arehalli Gate areas in order to establish the movements of the accused group. The footage from nearby establishments and roads could also help investigators identify the motorcycles and track the suspects' movements.
So far, police have stepped up efforts to arrest the identified suspects, and the injured victims are still receiving medical care as they need to be.
The incidents have once again put public safety in Bengaluru in doubt when armed individuals are believed to move through residential and commercial areas. But the investigation is still on, and further details on the circumstances and motive, if any, are going to come out as police question the suspects and receive more evidence.
