An Army soldier from Bihar’s Kaimur district, Shatrudhan Yadav, died of serious burn injuries in an alleged Scorpio vehicle attack. Ramgarh residents rallied around the soldier’s death and demanded an end to those responsible for it and questioned the handling of the case.
When Did the Incident Happen?
According to some reports, the attack took place around September 10, 2026 (8 days before Yadav's death). Yadav, who is a resident of Sahuka village under the Ramgarh police station, was called to Ramgarh over a dispute related to a financial transaction.
It was alleged that he was locked in a Scorpio, petrol was poured over the vehicle and it was set on fire. Yadav suffered serious burn injuries and was initially taken to the Trauma Centre in Varanasi. He was later shifted to an Army hospital in Lucknow for further treatment.
Yadav died after receiving treatment on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, NDTV said.
Protests Break Out in Ramgarh
News of the death of the soldier generated anger among people in Sahuka and around it. On Thursday, September 17, the villagers gathered at Durga Chowk, Ramgarh, where they blocked the road for around five hours.
Demonstrators asked for strict punishment for those responsible and also raised questions about the police investigation. Traffic was disrupted during the demonstration.
Police and administrative officials (SDM, DSP and Superintendent of Police Shikhar Chaudhary) reached the spot and spoke to the protesters. Security forces were also deployed in sensitive areas.
Seven People Named, Three Arrested
According to the police information reported by NDTV, seven people have been named as accused in connection with the case. Three have been arrested and sent to jail, and police were searching for four others.
The SP told protesters that action would be taken against anyone found responsible. He also said the role of the local Station House Officer would be examined.
After receiving these assurances, the protesters pulled out of their demonstration and traffic started again.
CCTV Footage Raises Questions
The circumstances of the incident are under investigation, Prabhat Khabar said. CCTV images taken during the investigation appeared to show Yadav travelling alone on a scooter before entering an area near the Scorpio.
The footage raised questions about the sequence of events. Police were investigating multiple possibilities and had not reached a final conclusion at that point, the report said.
This means that we must differentiate between allegations made in the case and facts established through the ongoing investigation.
Investigation Continues
The case started with an alleged attempt on Yadav's life. Police later changed the matter to include Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), related to murder, according to the latest report from TV9.
The investigation will probably determine how the vehicle caught fire, what happened before and after the incident and if each accused person played any role.
Key Takeaway
The death of Army soldier Shatrudhan Yadav has sparked protests in Kaimur, with villagers demanding justice and a thorough investigation. While three people have been arrested, several questions surrounding the circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
