The Cauvery Aarti programme planned at the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district has been postponed. The event, which was scheduled to begin on October 11, will now be held from October 18 to October 25.
The programme was scheduled to be inaugurated by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. But according to the information available, Shivakumar has a pre-scheduled programme on October 11. As a result, the Cauvery Aarti programme has been rescheduled.
Cauvery Aarti dates changed
The Cauvery Aarti is conducted near KRS Dam and has emerged as an important cultural and religious programme associated with the Cauvery River.
The event was scheduled for October 11. Organisers have now decided to conduct the programme between October 18 and 25.
The new dates are expected to allow for the inauguration programme to take place with the participation of the Deputy Chief Minister.
Programme held at KRS Dam
The KRS Dam in Mandya district’s Srirangapatna taluk is one of the important landmarks on the Cauvery River. Visiting is frequent throughout the year, and more tourists are present in the vicinity of major festivals and events.
The Cauvery Aarti is held near the dam as a ceremonial programme for the Cauvery River. The event incorporates religious rituals and cultural activities and has been around since its inception.
D.K. Shivakumar had launched Cauvery Aarti
The Cauvery Aarti programme was introduced at the KRS Dam last year, and D.K. Shivakumar played a key role in launching the initiative.
Since being launched, preparations have been continuing for the annual event, and plans are being made for a bigger programme this year.
The organisers are now preparing for the revised dates and should be able to set up the ceremonies and other activities planned as part of the Cauvery Aarti.
Preparations for grand event
The KRS Dam preparations are expected to continue with the event from October 18 to 25.
The Cauvery Aarti will draw a lot of people and visitors during the week-long programme. The event will take place on a bigger scale this year.
The postponement has been attributed to the Chief Minister's pre-scheduled programme on October 11, rather than any cancellation of the Cauvery Aarti itself.
The new calendar means that the traditional ceremony will be held after the planned date and the organisers will plan for the inauguration and the next event from October 18 to 25.
