The ACB (Anti-Corruption Bureau) has caught two treasury officials and a private person by accepting a ₹1 lakh bribe at the Divisional Sub-Treasury Office in Chevella, Rangareddy district of Telangana. The trap was launched on Thursday, September 17, 2026, ACB said.
Two Treasury Officials Named
The officials were Madiga Laxmaiah, Sub-Treasury Officer, and Kavali Anuradha, Assistant Treasury Officer. A private person, Vadde Jangaiah, who collected part of the money on behalf of the officials, was also in charge of this.
According to the ACB's account, officials had allegedly demanded ₹2.50 lakh from a complainant in connection with processing and forwarding his suspension-period salary bills and post-retirement pension adjustment arrears.
₹1 Lakh taken as Part Payment
The alleged demand was linked to salary bills of about ₹23.25 lakh and post-retirement pension adjustment arrears of about ₹4.29 lakh.
The ACB said the complainant agreed to pay ₹1 lakh as the first instalment. In the trap, Laxmaiah accepted ₹50,000, while another ₹50,000 was allegedly accepted by private person Vadde Jangaiah on instructions attributed to Anuradha.
The ACB’s Rangareddy unit subsequently recovered the whole alleged tainted amount of ₹1 lakh from Laxmaiah and Jangaiah.

ACB Conducts Trap at Chevella Office
The operation followed a complaint about the alleged demand for money. ACB officials conducted the trap at the Chevella Sub-Treasury Office and caught the accused while the alleged transaction was taking place.
UNI reported that the operation was carried out by the Rangareddy Range Unit of the Telangana ACB.
This is what anti-corruption agencies have to do to investigate the demands for illegal payment by public servants. But the allegations are still under legal investigation.
The three accused were sent for judicial remand.
Following the trap, the accused were produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally and were sent for judicial remand, reports say.
The ACB has continued to probe the allegations and the circumstances surrounding the alleged bribe demand.
