The deceased was identified as Narsi Lal Yadav, a CRPF personnel on duty at the time of the incident. Yadav was on duty at the time of the incident, the police said.

The preliminary information is that he suffered a fatal gunshot injury from his service revolver. Police said they had information about the incident and rushed to the scene and began an investigation and secured the area immediately, they said.

The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, which should be forthcoming for the cause of death and the background of the incident.

No foul play is suspected at this point, the officials said. But they said the sequence of events would only be determined after the post-mortem report is received and the investigation is completed.

Investigators are going through all aspects of the case, from Yadav’s work hours and recent activity to recent movements and interactions before the incident. Police are also recording statements of fellow personnel and other witnesses to help in reconstructing the events leading to his death.

No suicide note has been found, and authorities have not ruled out any motive. All evidence is being looked at in the investigation, the officials said.

The CRPF, India’s largest central armed police force under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is mainly responsible for internal security, counter-insurgency operations, election duties and protecting vital installations across the country. Personnel are often deployed in high-pressure operational environments, so periodic counselling and welfare measures are a vital part of the force’s support system.

The CRPF has not yet received any official statement regarding the incident. Details of the police investigation as well as the internal departmental investigation are awaited.

The authorities have urged against speculation until the forensic results and post-mortem report are available. The investigation is ongoing and information will be made public as it develops.
