A 71-year-old woman has been killed and her husband injured after an SUV hit multiple vehicles before crashing into the couple near Kailash Colony Metro Station in south Delhi’s Greater Kailash-I area.
The incident happened on Sunday, police said. A PCR call about the accident was received at the Greater Kailash-I police station, and police arrived at the scene and took the injured couple to Moolchand Hospital.
The woman was identified as Shashi. Doctors at the hospital declared her dead on arrival.
Her husband, identified as 65-year-old Kulbhushan, suffered injuries in the accident and was later considered fit to give his statement to the police.
The driver was arrested, police said.

According to police, the SUV allegedly hit multiple vehicles in the area and hit Shashi and her husband near Kailash Colony Metro Station.
The exact sequence of the collisions is still being investigated. Police reached the location after receiving information about the accident and shifted the injured couple to Moolchand Hospital.
Shashi was declared dead after reaching the hospital, and Kulbhushan received medical treatment for his injuries.

Police Register Case Against SUV Driver
Delhi Police have registered a case against the driver under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in terms of rash driving and acts endangering public safety and causing death by negligence.
Witness statements and other evidence from the accident site are expected to be analyzed, in addition to the evidence from the accident site, he said.
Shashi’s husband’s statement is also likely to help police reconstruct what happened before the collision.
The case is being treated as a road accident, and police will determine the driver's responsibility based on the evidence collected, said the police.
