A government school in Punjab’s Ferozepur received a bomb threat email on Thursday, September 24, 2026, and police and security teams fanned out to search the premises immediately following a bomb threat. The incident raised fear in the neighborhood, but officials said students in the school were safe.
Bomb Threat Email Received by School
According to a report by Punjabi Jagran, a Government Senior Secondary School, also called School of Eminence, in the Sadar police station area of Ferozepur received a threatening email at around 10 a.m. on September 24.
The email also contained a threat to blow up the school and also referred to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Punjab. The school administration immediately informed the authorities of the message.
Police teams arrived at the school soon after receiving the information and began security checks.
Police Teams Search
Police cordoned off the school and began checking classrooms as well as other parts of the building.
A bomb-disposal team and specialist police units were also on hand to assist in the search. They were taking no chances even if the threat was a hoax.
Officials then moved the students to the school ground as the inspection was carried out, officials said. Police said the children were safe and appealed to people in the neighborhood not to panic.
Cyber Team Investigating the Email
Authorities are looking into the origin of the threatening email, too. The cyber team is also looking into who sent that email and where it came from.
Such threatening emails can sometimes be sent by miscreants to create fear, but the authorities are taking the warning seriously.
To determine whether the email is genuine or not, the investigation will also seek out the sender.
No Confirmed Explosive Reported
At the time of the Punjabi Jagran report, there was no report of a bomb or other explosive device being found at the school. The search was done as a precautionary measure.
The incident also follows a series of bomb threats in schools and other public institutions in Punjab in recent months. Several schools in Abohar got threatening emails in July, leading to evacuation and security checks. Hindustan Times said at the time that no suspicious object had been found during the initial searches.
