The video, apparently taken on September 2 and posted publicly on September 4, appears to show a man identified as Guddu Pandit pulling a woman by her hair and dragging her across the floor. The woman can be heard shouting and is seen hitting the man with a broom.

According to Dainik Bhaskar, the alleged incident took place at Archana Pandit's residence around a kilometre from the Bulandshahr Collectorate. Archana, who belongs to the Congress women's wing, has approached the Shikarpur police station with a complaint against Pandit.

In her complaint, Archana said she was at home with her son Samar Pandit when Guddu Pandit came. She said he pounded on the door and instructed her to come outside. When she opened the door, he shoved her down and assaulted her.

Archana also claimed that a domestic worker heard her screams and started recording the incident on a mobile phone. Pandit moved away after knowing that the incident was being filmed, she said. She then ran towards the road and contacted the police.

The complaint also mentions repeated death threats against Archana and her son from Pandit and his family. She claimed that a divorce case between the couple is pending in court and that she has been pressured to withdraw the proceedings.

Archana is seeking protection and has requested round-the-clock security, including the deployment of women police personnel, because of her safety concerns, she said.

Bulandshahr City Circle Officer Prakhar Pandey said police had received the complaint and were looking into the video. The allegations and footage would be investigated and any action by the police would be based on facts in this investigation, he said.

Police have not publicly confirmed whether an FIR has been registered or specified which legal sections, if any, have been invoked.

The dispute between Guddu Pandit and Archana Pandit has continued for nearly two years. Archana had previously claimed that threats to her life had been made, which Pandit had denied.

Guddu Pandit, whose full name is Shribhagwan Sharma, has represented Dibai twice in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. He won the seat in 2007 on the Bahujan Samaj Party ticket and became an MLA in 2012 after joining the Samajwadi Party.

His political career has since included associations with various political parties. He left the SP in 2017, sought a BJP ticket, and won the Bulandshahr Sadar seat on an RLD ticket. He contested the Fatehpur Sikri Lok Sabha seat in 2019 on a BSP ticket but lost.

He joined Shiv Sena in 2022 and returned to the Samajwadi Party in 2023.

Archana Pandit has also been active in politics. She was senior in the Samajwadi Party's women's wing and fought the 2023 Bulandshahr municipal chairperson election as an SP candidate, finishing second.

Later, she joined the Congress and became associated with its women's organisation in Uttar Pradesh.

The allegations against Guddu Pandit are not yet proven in court. Police will be investigating the complaint and video footage and then take a look at other charges.
