Then, the happy party in Gujarat, intended as a wedding celebration, was transformed into a public health crisis when more than 400 wedding guests contracted suspected food poisoning.
This almost immediately led to their mass hospitalisation and emergency treatment by emergency medical teams of medical personnel from the medical team treating them for their health condition. It took place at a bridal party at a massive wedding reception in Gujarat, where hundreds of guests streamed in, to which the food had apparently made its practitioners sick.
Soon it was discovered that several individuals had begun to experience symptoms of vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach cramps and dehydration, all potent signs of foodborne infection. Hospitals throughout town were flooded, and dozens of patients rushed into urgent medical care.
There were some hospitals where doctors had no choice but to call, just to keep the patients steady in what were potentially life-saving conditions, because there was a wave of patients that suddenly descended on emergency wards. Health officials said while most patients are in good condition, many needed intensive care for dehydration and complications.

Officials are investigating the incident in depth, they said. Food samples taken from the wedding venue are being sent for laboratory testing to help determine the cause of contamination. Reports suggest the outbreak could be linked to misuse of food, unsanitary conditions or spoiled food products. State-level officials from the health department have also reviewed the event’s catering services.
Extreme measures will be implemented when dereliction is discovered if negligence or violation of all food hygiene protocols is identified. This latest case, especially around the height of the wedding season, has now received much attention to cleanliness at big gatherings.
Officials from the region’s government have issued a health warning, warning people to take caution when they go to big events and when cooking and serving food in a clean. They suggested that early medical attention may be necessary when there’s a sign of food poisoning.
Witnesses at the event detailed chaotic events at the venue as guests began to get sick simultaneously. “People were panicking. Many couldn’t get out of their chairs much,” said one attendee, adding that ambulances were starting to arrive one by one. Public health staff say it’s a reminder to enforce food-safety regulations and create knowledge among event organisers, the researchers say.
It is not only the food on such a huge scale to handle itself that must be considered with utmost caution in terms of safe storing and hygienic conditions of food to prevent spoilage from the environment. Investigators are now expected to offer detailed findings as investigations build. To the affected, ultimately, the focus of recovery is the prevention of potential repeat incidents in the future.
