The Indian Army on Gunners Day sent warm greetings and best wishes to all ranks of the Regiment of Artillery, veterans and their families. General Dhiraj Seth, Chief of the Army Staff and all ranks of the Indian Army sent out a message to the artillery community and expressed their thanks for their service to the country and to the military.
Gunners Day is the occasion to honour the contributions and legacy of the Regiment of Artillery and to acknowledge its personnel over the years. The artillery arm has traditionally been instrumental in providing fire support to combat formations, and through effective use of artillery systems, trained personnel and synchronized operations, the Gunners contribute to battlefield preparedness and mission objectives.
The Indian Army’s message also stressed precision, firepower and commitment to mission accomplishment of the Regiment of Artillery. This is exactly what artillery works on: precision, coordination and training. The regiment’s personnel work with other parts of the armed forces to accomplish military objectives in various operational contexts.
The greeting also acknowledged veterans and families of the Regiment of Artillery. Military service extends beyond uniformed personnel, and families and veterans have a key role in regimental life. Veterans carry the memory of their service even into civilian life, and military families provide support for service members throughout their service life.
The Regiment of Artillery has a long-standing tradition in the Indian Army. Its personnel have served in various operational roles and have adapted to changing military needs. Modern artillery operations are often based on advanced technology, better surveillance, communication systems and an increased focus on precision. These developments have changed the way artillery units perform, but retained the basic role of trained personnel and coordinated fire support.
The message on Gunners Day also emphasized the pride of the artillery community. The regiment’s motto, Sarvatra Izzat-O-Iqbal, reflects the honor and service of the regiment and loyalty of the Regiment of Artillery.
But the job is in service of the soldiers first, and so Gunners Day is a day to appreciate the work that is done in that area and the culture of the generations before that and the families who support them.
The Indian Army’s greetings on the occasion were heavily focused on Gunners’ dedication to their mission. Artillery units require a high level of coordination, technical knowledge and execution. Personnel have to be trained to run complex equipment and to be ready in time for operations and to work with other military formations.
As India's defence needs are ever changing, the artillery arm is also undergoing technological and operational adjustments. To better respond to the various operational requirements, mobility, range, precision and the integration of advanced systems are of increasing importance in modernisation.

Gunners Day is in many ways a celebration of the Regiment of Artillery’s heritage and also of the service of its personnel. General Dhiraj Seth and the Indian Army were grateful for serving personnel, veterans and families in this long-standing regimental tradition.
This is the occasion to celebrate the Gunners in India’s military as they are there, and continue to contribute to our service. With their focus on precision, firepower, discipline and mission accomplishment, the Regiment of Artillery is able to carry on the traditions of their arm. Gunners Day will provide a chance for the entire military community to recognize their contributions and to thank the people who serve, veterans and their families.
