A 25-year-old woman was beaten to death with a metal rod by her husband at their rented home in Gurugram's Palam Vihar after he suspected she was having an affair, Gurugram cops said. The accused, a 30-year-old cab operator, was arrested soon after the incident while allegedly attempting to flee towards Uttar Pradesh.
Now, suspicion and domestic conflict can escalate into deadly violence, he said.
What happened in Palam Vihar?
According to Gurugram Police, the incident took place on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in the couple's rented accommodation in Dharam Colony, Palam Vihar.
The husband returned home at about 1 p.m. and found another man in the bedroom with his wife, police said. There was no indication of an affair, investigators said, but the husband suspected his wife had an affair.
A confrontation followed, according to police. The man found inside the house escaped after allegedly being attacked by the accused, said police.
Woman Found Seriously Injured
After the other man fled, the accused then attacked his wife with a metal rod, the prosecutor said.
Police said she suffered several severe injuries to her head. She was found lying in a pool of blood at the house and taken to a private hospital, where she was declared dead.
Gurugram Police PRO Sandeep Turan said the injuries caused severe bleeding. The house owner informed police after he heard about the brawl at the property.
Accused arrested within 2 hours.
Police said the accused left the house after the alleged attack and attempted to escape towards Uttar Pradesh.
Investigators arrested him about two hours after the incident was reported. He was then taken into custody for questioning as part of the murder investigation.
The couple had lived at the rented accommodation for around four years, the police said. The husband was from Bihar, the woman from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.
Murder Case Registered
An FIR was registered at Palam Vihar police station under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) which deals with murder, according to police.
The woman’s family is expected to arrive from Bihar before the body is handed over after the post-mortem examination.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged killing, including the events leading up to the confrontation.
