A dispute over how to dispose of garbage between apartment residents and municipal workers is going on on Tapovan Road in Dharwad; residents are reported to be throwing waste along the road.
According to our information, municipal staff noticed residents of an apartment allegedly disposing of garbage on the roadside instead of handing it over through the city's door-to-door waste collection system.
Civic workers were asked by residents about the practice, and there was a clash between them.
Garbage dumped in front of the apartment
After the conflict, municipal workers brought a tractor with garbage and dumped it directly in front of the apartment where the residents lived, they said.
The incident has attracted attention because the municipality has an established system for household waste collection using auto-tippers. Residents are expected to hand over their waste to the designated collection vehicles instead of dropping it off roadsides and on vacant plots.
However, the municipality is said not to have acted in any way.
Residents asked about Roadside Garbage
The apartment residents told police that they were confronted by municipal workers after they observed garbage being thrown beside the road. Residents and municipal workers got into a heated verbal argument.
