A shocking incident in Hyderabad has ignited outrage after a dispute over Rs 10 change turned into a fatal assault. An auto-rickshaw driver was reportedly beaten to death after a passenger was involved in a confrontation in Vattapally.
The fight began when a passenger handed over a Rs 200 note as fare, after he was told to return a Rs 10 note for change. What started as a minor dispute turned violent and resulted in the death of the auto driver.
Deaths Over Change
The incident has drawn widespread attention due to the trivial nature of the dispute that precipitated the violence. AIMIM Bahadurpura MLA Mohammed Mubeen visited the area after the incident and spoke about the sequence of events.
According to the MLA, the passenger and the auto driver got into an argument over the change of Rs 10. A passenger, Azim, allegedly turned out to be aggressive towards the driver. The situation escalated further when the accused had allegedly contacted relatives and associates on the spot.
The MLA said the group attacked the auto driver in public and assaulted him brutally. The attack took place in front of the victim’s wife and children, which only made the situation more disturbing to local residents.
Witnesses in the area said the encounter quickly spiraled out of control and there was little time for any intervention before the victim died.
Allegations of Criminal Background
MLA Mohammed Mubeen also told the media that the accused individuals were known troublemakers in the locality and had a long history of criminal activities.
He claimed Azim, Shoaib, and their associates had been involved in numerous incidents in the area and were known for causing disturbances. They were operating with impunity, and local residents had even raised concerns regarding law and order in the area, said the MLA.
Mubeen also said that this was the second murder in the same street in one month, raising fears about public safety and security in the Vattapally area.
Demand for Immediate Action
Local leaders and residents wanted action taken against those responsible. The MLA told senior police officials to have all accused people arrested immediately and to take very serious legal action.
He also asked for increased police patrols in the area to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. Better law enforcement measures are essential to restore the citizens’ confidence, he said.
The victim’s family has also been looking for justice, and community members have come together to support them.
Police Investigation Underway
Police were on the scene shortly after receiving information about the incident. A case has been registered, and investigators are beginning to collect evidence and statements from witnesses.
