The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather forecast warning of rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across various parts of India. On October 3, weather activity will be widespread in southern, western, eastern and northeastern India, whereas Delhi and parts of northwest India will remain mostly dry for now.
According to the weather forecast, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Maharashtra, West Bengal and some northeastern states could get rain in the coming days. From October 5, the IMD has also predicted that rainfall activity could increase in parts of northwest India, and Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh could see isolated to scattered showers over the next few days between October 6 and 7.
Delhi, Uttar Pradesh Weather Today
Delhi-NCR is not under any major weather warning for October 3. The national capital is expected to have largely dry conditions, and no significant rainfall activity is forecast over the day.
But the weather situation could change in the coming days. The IMD has forecast an increase in rainfall activity over Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh from October 6-7.
Uttar Pradesh also expects to remain mostly dry on October 3, and no significant rainfall is expected across the state. In contrast, scattered to isolated showers may occur in parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
Rain Forecast for Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand
Eastern India is expected to remain active during the coming days. Odisha may see some isolated to scattered rain, but the wet spell is likely to continue through October 7.
Bihar and Jharkhand are expected to see rainfall activity around October 5. Gangetic West Bengal may also receive showers on October 3, adding to the ongoing weather activity across eastern India.
Maharashtra and Central India Weather
Maharashtra is also likely to experience rainfall in the next few days. Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra may receive isolated to scattered showers on October 3.
The IMD expects rainfall activity over Maharashtra to continue through October 7. However, there is no heavy rainfall warning for the state on October 3.
Chhattisgarh could also get isolated to scattered rainfall, with the wet spell expected to last through October 7.
Heavy Rain Warning for Kerala
Southern India is among the areas of the country that will be expected to witness the most severe weather conditions. Kerala and Mahe are expected to get fairly widespread to widespread rainfall on October 3 with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds.
The IMD has stated that winds in Kerala could reach speeds of 30-40 kmph, with gusts reaching 50 kmph.
Also, a heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Kerala for October 4-6, so it will be very important for Kerala residents or tourists to go that way.
Coastal Karnataka is likely to receive widespread rainfall, while South Interior Karnataka may see isolated to scattered showers. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may also see rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Northeast India to Remain Wet
Several northeastern states are also expected to experience rainfall. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may have isolated to scattered showers.
According to the IMD outlook, rainfall activity could continue in several parts of northeast India through October 7.
Residents in the region affected by thunderstorms and gusty winds should be alert and follow local weather advisories, especially during periods of lightning and strong winds.
Weather Outlook for the Next Few Days
Overall, the IMD forecast indicates that rainfall activity will be concentrated in southern, eastern and northeastern India over the next few days. Kerala, Karnataka and some parts of Tamil Nadu could have thunderstorms as well as gusty winds, while Odisha, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh will continue with intermittent rainfall.
Northwestern parts of the country would see an increase in rainfall activity from October 5 to 7. Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh might shift from dry to isolated or scattered showers in this period.
