India Proposes Mandatory Energy Ratings for Large Commercial and Institutional Buildings

The Indian government has decided to make energy performance ratings for all new commercial and institutional buildings of 20,000 square metres or more in built-up area mandatory for energy efficiency in the country’s rapidly expanding urban infrastructure. This plan is part of India’s overall strategy to cut energy consumption and carbon emissions to promote sustainable development as urbanization and commercial construction continue to grow.
