Karnataka is in the throes of a scandal after a case involving TV astrologer Kamalakar Bhat and a social-media figure named Suchitra. What started as a spiritual consultation turned into a sensational story of an extramarital affair and leaked "dog-like" obsession audio, brutal murder in Uttara Kannada.
Kamalakar Bhat, an astrologer that can often be found on Kannada television, is now undergoing a viral firestorm from the center. In the same tape (a recorded message containing one interview), a man, reportedly Bhat, voices his total obsession with Suchitra. On it, he confesses to have been following her "like a dog" for four months, to win her over, "everything," insisting, "You [his] love [was] a gift from God."
Suchitra, mother of two famous for her Instagram reels, appears in the above audio reaffirming her supremacy over the relationship, telling it to her son that she is, in effect, his “wife and lover.”
The Deadly Confrontation in Siddapur
The romance turned dark on the night of February 2, 2026. Suchitra had allegedly left her husband, Mahesh Naik, to live with Bhat in Shivamogga. When her eldest daughter began complaining about harassment and fled with her father to Avaraguppa (Siddapur), it became a case of boiling over. Reports are that Suchitra, her father Lokanath, and Kamalakar Bhat came to Mahesh’s house wielding weapons. Mahesh’s brother, Vasanth Naik (43) joined in the brawl, and tried to save Mahesh. Sadly, Vasanth was stabbed and afterwards died.
“Only Money, Money”: The Mystery of Instagram Bio
The case’s surrounding details have fueled severe debate of Suchitra’s motives. It didn’t long for eagle-eyed netizens to learn that Suchitra runs two Instagram accounts. In one, her bio was updated recently to: “A broken heart … until now it had been love … from now on, only money, money.” This has created much public speculation: was the relationship based solely on pure affection, or was the “broken-hearted” influencer capitalizing on Bhat’s professional success for financial gain?
Current Status
On February 4, 2026, a court in Uttara Kannada remanded Kamalakar Bhat, Suchitra and two others to judicial custody. The case has also ignited a political "photo war" in the state, with leaders from the Congress and BJP exchanging barbs after photos of the accused with prominent politicians emerged. What is left is the tragic death of Vasanth Naik, in attempting to spare his family a scandal that had started with a future-teller who didn’t see his own undoing.
