The long-awaited expansion of Karnataka cabinet is coming closer to reality as Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President B.K. Hariprasad said that discussions with the Congress high command have already taken place and the final decision is now awaited. His comments have revived political speculation about when the Siddaramaiah-led government will introduce new ministers or replace them with fresh ones in the present cabinet.
Hariprasad revealed to the media that a meeting with the Congress high command was held yesterday, and senior party leaders discussed the cabinet expansion in detail. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and a former Chief Minister were involved in the consultation process and they asked him about the development decision before moving ahead.
Hariprasad described the current stage of the cabinet exercise with a simple analogy, saying, “The examination is over, and now we are waiting for the results.” He said internal consultation has been done and that the party leadership has already considered the various political and regional factors in deciding the composition of the cabinet.
KPCC chief also made a light-hearted comment on the date of the swearing-in ceremony.
