Karnataka Government Launches 10,000 Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas with ₹10 Lakh Annual Grant Each

Under a policy to empower the youth and encourage a sense of community involvement, the Karnataka government has approved 10,000 Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas (BJYS) – 10,000 Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas (BJYS) are being set up across the state of Karnataka in a grand scheme. An annual grant of ₹10 lakh per Sangha will cover each Sangha for annual cash inflow per each, and the government will sanction a total budget of ₹1,010 crore, including ₹10 crore for administrative expenses. The bold project, inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara, is aimed to promote sports, culture, scientific thinking, leadership development, and social harmony for young people in the youth age group of 16-35 years.

Massive Youth Development Initiative

Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas, in a population-based manner in both rural and urban areas, are set up.

The government plans on forming:

  • In every Gram Panchayat, there is one Sangha.
  •  One Sangha for every 4,000 residents in Town Panchayats.
  • One Sangha for every 6,000 population in Municipalities.
  • One Sangha for every 8,000 in the City Municipal Councils.
  • One Sangha for every 10,000 persons in Municipal Corporations and the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).

Collectively, about 6,000 Sanghas will work in Gram Panchayats, and 4,000 Sanghas will operate in urban wards.

₹10 Lakh Annual Grant for Every Sangha every year.

Each Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha will be allotted ₹10 lakh annually for arranging community-centered schemes. In addition, each Sangha will have an individual trainer for whom an annual honorarium of ₹24,000 will be awarded.

 It is the initiative’s commitment to nurturing leadership capacity, as well as encouraging responsible citizenship, and giving opportunities for young people to work for society in meaningful and valuable ways.

Focus on Sports, Culture, and Social Harmony.

The Sanghas will arrange a variety of activities:


  • Rural sports tournaments. Fitness and yoga camps.
  • Health awareness programmes. Cleanliness drives.
  • Community development initiatives. Cultural events.
  • Programmes to encourage scientific temper.
  • Youth leadership workshops. Social harmony campaigns.

 The officials believe these activities will inspire young people to become active members of the community and acquire teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills. Registration Process. Those wishing to establish a Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha may submit applications on the BJYS online portal or at any Citizen Service Centre. To gain registration:

At least 100 people shall be required for the formation of a Sangha. The members shall be ages 16-35. The Sangha must be registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960. Government Infrastructure Support. Deputy Commissioners and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officers have been enlisted to create proper space to facilitate Sangha operations.

 Meetings and programmes can be conducted in:

  • Government schools.
  • Colleges.
  • Community halls.
  • Other government buildings.

This would lower infrastructure costs and give the centres to local youth. Organisational Structure. Each Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha shall have a 15-member executive committee elected by all members. There will also be district-level committees for a term of two years each. At the state level, implementation, fund utilization, and programme execution will be monitored through a monitoring committee headed by the Chief Minister. Implementation Timeline. The Karnataka government has announced its ambitious plan to get the project rolling. By July 31, it aims to accomplish:

Officials say the Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha initiative has resulted in becoming one of Karnataka's largest youth empowerment initiatives and thousands of youth participating in activities that include sports, community development, leadership, and nation-building.
