Karnataka Weather Update: Heavy Rain in Bengaluru, Yellow Alert for 17 Districts

Much of Karnataka, Bengaluru to be more specifically Bengaluru, experienced heavy rainfall on Sunday causing even more relief from the heat over the weekend. The violent downpour completely cooled down the weather and India Meteorological Department (IMD) has given a warning on many places in the states for more rain to come.

Weather officials say the weather in Bengaluru is likely to be cloudy and has intermittent showers. Tumakuru Districts like Chitradurga, Mandya, Ramanagara, Mysuru, Kolar, and Hassan will also see moderate to heavy rainfall.

  • HAL Airport area– 3.7 mm.
  • Bengaluru Rural– 19.0 mm.
  • Chintamani– 4.5 mm.
  • Gonikoppal– 2.0 mm.
  • Doddaballapur – 1.0 mm
  • Yellow Alert issued up to 17 districts

The weather department has issued a yellow Alert on certain districts that there are thunderstorms, with moderate rainfall in a number of of others. They will be Belagavi, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, Udupi, Haveri, Dakshina Kannada, Tumakuru, Hassan, Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Mysuru, and Kodagu.

Hence coastal and interior regions like Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada are likely to receive thunderstorms with rainfall. Moreover, northern interior districts such as Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Yadgir and Vijayapura could also see similar weather conditions.

In south interior Karnataka, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar and Bengaluru will have gusty winds along with rain in places.

Police have said, safety advice should be directed against travel during thunderstorms, and not to visit the city when there is heavy rain falling.

As more rain sets in and more rainfall is expected we expect to see that the pleasant weather will keep it, much better and provide relief from the hot weather of the last few weeks in the state.
