Kerala Leaders Hold Discussions with Union Finance Minister

Nirmala Sitharaman meets Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Sabu M. Jacob; discusses governance and development priorities for Kerala. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman interacted with Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, President of BJP Kerala and former Union Minister, along with Shri Sabu M. Jacob, President of the Twenty20 Party. A key panel of political leaders from Kerala gathered at the meeting for an in-depth talk about governance, development priorities, and policy perspectives.

The conversations were friendly and pro-active, centering around the developmental roadmap of Kerala, investment landscape, construction growth plan of the state, and macro political and economic context of Kerala.

Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar looked at Kerala’s development challenges and prospects. It calls for the enhancement of the economic base of core infrastructure, the participation of private and international investors in development, and the advancement of technology-based innovation as a way forward to further enhance the economy and employment creation in Kerala. There is a grassroots governance approach that was highlighted by Shri Sabu M. Jacob under the Twenty20 Party, focusing on the development of citizens. 

He highlighted the party’s measures in areas of local self-governance, upgrades to civic infrastructure, and community welfare programs in areas where the party is operating. He echoed the party's pledge to transparent and developmental governance. 

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke about the big picture at the national level and how it relates to the state’s development priorities. She emphasized the government’s mission for inclusive growth, fiscal discipline, and massive infrastructure development in key areas such as roads, railways, digital connectivity, and urban growth. It is viewed as a link in the continuing dialogue between national leadership and regional political allies to improve coordination on development-oriented efforts.

Though no formal announcements or agreements were reached, the meeting provided a helpful forum for discussion and exchange of ideas, and for policy reflections. Engagement and discussion should continue to unfold in the months ahead as we engage in ongoing discourse on development cooperation and governance priorities.
