The investigation into the murder of Ketan Agarwal is progressing as police continue to question the accused and look for more leads. In the first and more important case on Friday, Siya Goyal was taken to a government hospital for a mandatory medical examination and was taken to court. The police are planning to bring both Siya Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary before court later in the day.
The case has gained much attention since Ketan Agarwal was allegedly murdered in an alleged conspiracy. Since the arrests, police have re-established the sequence of events, collected forensic evidence, examined digital records and questioned people who may have known about the incident.
The media tried to question Siya Goyal outside of the hospital while she was being escorted by police. Siya gave her middle finger in the brief interaction to journalists covering the case before being taken inside the hospital under police escort. The gesture was captured by cameras and has since attracted attention on social media.
Meanwhile, police also brought Siya Goyal to the Vadgaon Maval Police Station earlier in the day. Both Chetan Chaudhary and Siya Goyal are still in police custody, officials said.
But police are also investigating another person’s possible role in the case. Police believe one of Chetan Chaudhary’s friends knew about the alleged murder plot before now, sources said. Police have not named this person as an accused yet but they are investigating whether he was aware of the conspiracy before the incident and if he failed to alert the authorities, and whether he had any role before or after the attack.
Investigators are also trying to determine the motive behind the alleged murder and the roles for each of the accused to have participated in the murder. CCTV footage, electronic devices and other forensic evidence are being analysed by detectives to establish the sequence of the incidents to check the evidence and to see if anyone else was involved in the planning or aiding the alleged crime.
This is still a very critical phase of the investigation and officials have said they have not ruled out further questioning and more action if there is further evidence. The outcome of the medical examination and the court proceedings will impact the next stage of the investigation to follow and could be a deciding factor in the investigation.
