A major road accident was reported in Karnataka's Chikkaballapur district on Saturday after a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus overturned near Muddenahalli, leaving eight passengers injured, three of whom were declared critical.
The accident occurred near the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Campus in Muddenahalli village, which triggered panic among passengers and residents. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the injured were sent to a local hospital for treatment.
Bus carrying 26 Passengers Overturns
According to the preliminary information, the KSRTC bus was travelling from Doddaballapur to Chikkaballapur with 26 passengers on board.
As the bus approached the Muddenahalli stretch near the VTU campus, it reportedly tried to avoid a tipper truck going from the opposite direction near Kanivenarayanapura. The driver, who is believed to have lost control of the vehicle during the manoeuvre, is believed to have lost control of the vehicle, with the bus overturning on the roadside.
The accident was so bad that many passengers were stuck in the bus before residents and emergency workers were able to help them out.
Eight Injured, Three in Critical Condition
There were eight passengers injured in the accident. Three people were reported to be in critical condition, and five people were injured with minor to moderate injuries.
All of the injured were immediately shifted to Sri Sathya Sai Hospital, Muddenahalli, where they are currently receiving medical treatment. Doctors are closely monitoring the condition of the critically injured passengers.
