According to reports, the bag contained gold and silver jewellery worth around ₹4 lakh and about ₹2,000 in cash.
The patient was in the hospital when the stray dog picked up the bag and walked away.

The items were ultimately recovered and the jewellery and cash were found intact. Police returned those recovered valuables to their owner later.

The CCTV footage was crucial in solving the mystery. Without the cameras, it would have been far more difficult to locate the missing bag and trace where it might have been found.
The footage enabled police to reconstruct the sequence of events and trace the dog’s route.
The incident also serves as a reminder for patients and visitors at hospitals to be careful with valuable belongings.
Hospitals are crowded places and personal belongings such as jewellery, cash and important documents can easily be misplaced or taken away.
The patient, however, left the situation on a high note. The jewellery and cash were recovered and were also returned.
The Mandsaur case has since become an unusual example of how CCTV surveillance can help solve even the most bizarre cases. A standard missing-bag complaint quickly evolved into a bizarre story about a stray dog, a hospital corridor and valuables worth lakhs.
