As the calendar of the 10-day Dasara celebrations kick-off in the city, Mysuru is now gearing up for the best way to shine brightest with elaborate electrical decorations on the Mysuru Palace, key roads, major roads, and routes that tourists and visitors use and the city is getting closer to the Dasara.

The special illumination will surely be one of the major attractions of Mysuru Dasara 2026. The city will be illuminated for over 21 days with decorative lights every evening from 6 pm to 11 pm. The plans are in place to make sure residents and tourists can experience the grandeur of Mysuru even after sunset. From the grand palace to the main roads of the city, colourful lights and artistic installations are going to be glowing in the city.

More than 80 attractive illuminated replicas and decorative installations are being made for the celebrations this year. The designs will feature artistic patterns, flowers, animals, birds and other visually appealing motifs. There are also some elements of the old culture and heritage of Mysuru; the illumination is going to be a local thing. This city already has a royal history, which is appreciated with the special lighting, and the city’s history and culture will be further enhanced in this Dasara season.

The electrical decorations will not only cover the main tourist sites. A lot of the important streets and places in Mysuru will also be lit up specially. The electricity poles along these streets will also be decorated with very special installations, and the number of poles will be much higher than last year.

The scale of the illumination also demands huge electricity usage. The arrangements are expected to require an additional electrical load of about 3,108 kilowatts. Over the 21-day illumination period, approximately 2,60,920 units of total electricity are expected. The numbers show the scale of preparations to transform Mysuru into a brightly lit destination during one of Karnataka's biggest cultural festivals.

The Mysuru Dasara celebrations are also expected to have another big attraction to the sky as well. A drone show with thousands of drones is being prepared for a dramatic drone show. The proposed aerial display is expected to build large-scale formations and visual patterns in the night sky and add another modern technology to the traditional festivities. Organisers are also planning a major attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the drone spectacle, which will be one of the biggest attractions of this year’s celebrations and will be one of the most watched attractions.

Old-school culture and modern technology will help make Mysuru Dasara 2026 unique. While the illuminated Mysuru Palace and decorated city streets will showcase the royal and cultural history of the city, the drone display will also bring a new dimension to the festival. Collectively, these features could draw big crowds to Mysuru during the festive period.

The illumination will also make the Dasara celebrations as popular as expected for those not coming. The Jamboo Savari, cultural events, palace celebrations and other traditional events attract tourists from all over India, the world and back home every year. The bright lighting in and around Mysuru will make it easier for tourists to see the city of Mysuru at night and make it look more beautiful.

With the Mysuru Palace’s lush royal splendour and Jamboo Savari, cultural performances and the drone show that make Mysuru Dasara 2026 a celebration that combines tradition with technology, Mysuru Dasara 2026 is going to be a celebration of fun. There will be a 21-day glow at the end of the festival that will keep the fun going beyond the day so that Mysuru can shine at night every evening. That is why residents and tourists can expect a city that, when we come to the city for Dasara in 2026, will be even more beautiful than it already is and the city of the future to shine.
