Mohit H.S., Aditi Ashok, Puvamma, Ayush Shetty, Tilottama Sen, Shreyank Patil and Sneha S.S. were felicitated not only for their achievements in the sport but for their dedication, discipline and hard work to represent India in the world’s largest multi-sport competition in Asia.

Karnataka athletes’ performance at the 2026 Asian Games has created great pride among sports fans on the state ground. Their performance illustrated Karnataka’s growing talent and in turn the contribution of the state to the success of India in international competitions.

The felicitation at Vidhana Soudha was a special moment for the athletes, their families, coaches and supporters. The iconic venue, home of Karnataka’s legislature, was the perfect place to honour those who have made the state proud in sport. Honouring athletes at such a prestigious venue also sends a strong message about the importance of sports and the need to encourage young talent.

A few of them were Aditi Ashok, one of India’s most famous golfers, whose international career has made Indian golf more visible and inspired the young athletes following behind her. The recognition in Karnataka is just the next stage in her excellent sporting journey.

The felicitation was also dedicated to Mohit H.S., Puvamma, Ayush Shetty, Tilottama Sen, Shreyank Patil and Sneha S.S., each of whom represented Karnataka and India in a very strong way. Their achievements demonstrate that when athletes are provided the right training, support and opportunities, sport can be truly great in so many disciplines in India.

Preparation for events like the Asian Games requires years of work. Athletes need to work hard and train rigorously to cope with the physical stress of competition and the pressures of representing their country. And so the Karnataka contingent’s performance shows years of hard work and commitment.

It could also help kids get involved in sports by recognizing those athletes and the recognition of these athletes in the state. Karnataka has a strong sporting scene, with athletes competing successfully at national and international levels in disciplines ranging from athletics and badminton to shooting, golf, cricket and others. Public recognition can make young sports players desire to be in the game with a competitive mindset.

The 2026 Asian Games were another great platform in which Indian athletes were able to show their talent against the best in Asia. For Karnataka’s athletes to go to such an event and then to be felicitated at Vidhana Soudha is a big achievement.

The ceremony also demonstrates the growing importance of recognizing sports success alongside achievements in other fields. Athletes often spend years away from the spotlight, making sacrifices to reach elite competition. Embracing their success publicly will also help others to learn from them and is an example of how hard work pays off.

Karnataka’s great success is because of Mohit H.S., Aditi Ashok, Puvamma, Ayush Shetty, Tilottama Sen, Shreyank Patil and Sneha S.S. We are proud of them. They are among the many athletes who received awards at Vidhana Soudha and we are proud to see that we are proud of our sporting talent and proud to have a big performance in the Asian competition. As Karnataka is investing in sports and the state is building sports, these athletes are great role models for the next generation of champions.
