As Mysuru gears up for the upcoming Mysuru Dasara 2026 celebrations, passengers travelling to and from the city have been given an important traffic update. KSRTC and other transport buses traveling in Bengaluru-Mysuru will now be routed in different directions due to the ongoing flyover and grade separator work at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Circle, also known as Manipal Hospital Junction.
Mysuru City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar has issued an order revising the routes of buses entering and leaving the city through the junction. They will remain in place until the construction work is completed.
The route diversion is a necessity as Mysuru is expecting visitors during the Dasara season. The official Mysuru Dasara programme is from 11 to 21 October 2026 and there are some events planned to bring visitors into the city.
Why has traffic been diverted at Manipal Junction?
Kempegowda Circle is a major connecting point between NH-275, Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway and Mysuru's Ring Road. The junction serves buses, heavy vehicles, goods vehicles and private transport.
Construction is already going on on the flyover/grade separator project at the junction. It is being executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and is estimated to cost ₹63.67 crore.
Reports indicate that only around 30% of the project has been completed. The construction activities, such as pillars, excavated material and narrow road space, have affected traffic flow through the junction.
With the growing number of vehicles expected to increase during Dasara, authorities have introduced alternative routes for buses to reduce congestion at the construction site.
Bengaluru to Mysuru: Revised KSRTC Bus Route
KSRTC buses arriving in Mysuru from Bengaluru through the expressway will now take the following alternative route:
Mysuru-Bengaluru Expressway → Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Circle → left turn towards Ring Road → Pushpashrama Junction → Mahadevapura Road Junction (Sathgalli KSRTC Depot Junction).
From there, buses will take a right turn towards:
Mahadevapura Road → Udayagiri Signal Junction → Samosa Corner → Kalikamba Junction.
At Kalikamba Junction, buses will take a right turn towards:
Abba Road → Government Guest House North Gate Junction → Pilot Circle → B.N. Road → KSRTC Arch Junction → Mini Vidhana Soudha Junction → Hutatma Hemachandra Circle → Hardinge Circle → KSRTC Bus Stand.
This route is intended to allow buses to avoid the congested area around the flyover construction.
Mysuru to Bengaluru: New Bus Route.
Buses leaving Mysuru to Bengaluru will also have to follow a revised route.
From the KSRTC Bus Stand, buses will proceed through:
Pilot Circle → Government Guest House North Gate → Dr B.R. Ambedkar Circle → Dr Rajkumar Circle → LIC Circle → Link Road Junction.
The buses will then take the Old Mysuru-Bengaluru Road and proceed through:
Dandinamaramma Temple Junction → Old Tollgate → Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Circle → Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway.
From the expressway, buses can continue towards Bengaluru.
The new route has been announced as a temporary traffic schedule until the flyover and grade separator construction at the junction are completed.
Dasara Visitors should plan their journey
The traffic diversion is especially important for passengers traveling to Mysuru during Dasara. The authorities expect a large increase in vehicle movement during the festival.
During the previous Dasara season, an average of more than 28,500 vehicles entered Mysuru each day via NH-275 during the festival season. The traffic volume will increase further this year.
Passengers travelling from Bengaluru to Mysuru by KSRTC should therefore allow for extra travel time and check their bus route before beginning their journey.
The official Mysuru Dasara website also provides information on visitor planning, parking and traffic arrangements. Parking is also planned outside of the city centre with shuttle services for the festival.
Route Change to Continue until Construction Ends
The KSRTC route diversion is not limited to a particular Dasara event. According to the police order, it will still apply to transport buses entering Mysuru from different districts and buses leaving the city for other destinations until the flyover work at Manipal Hospital Junction is completed.
The objective is to manage traffic flow in the construction zone while avoiding congestion and ensuring safe movement for buses, motorists and pedestrians.
For passengers travelling during Dasara, knowing the revised route in advance can help avoid confusion, especially for those arriving from Bengaluru through the expressway.
