NTA provides fresh advice for the NEET re-examination to the candidates on Thursday. The re-test is being conducted in parts of the country due to a leaky question paper and irregularities. It said that thousands of aspirants are eagerly waiting for the examination to take up again and that the NTA demands compliance all the time with the rules of the examination for a fair examination.
As part of security measures, some communication channels, such as Telegram groups, have been restricted for several months to prevent unauthorised exam-related messages from being circulated, which is why the authorities have been so concerned.
Candidates are asked to carry all the required documents when they report to their examination centres. The NTA has made it mandatory for students to bring a valid government-issued identity proof along with their admit card and two passport-size photographs. Candidates who do not have the required documents may not be able to enter the examination hall.
The examination authority has also outlined its dress code policy with respect to religious practices and beliefs. Students will be allowed to wear hijabs, turbans, religious scarves and sacred threads such as Raksha Sutra. The NTA said those who follow religious traditions will be allowed to come for the examination without discrimination, and security procedures will be followed.
Footwear rules have also been specified. Candidates are permitted to wear slippers and sandals with low heels. But those wearing shoes with higher heels could undergo further security checks before entering the exam centre on the day of, and those in shoes with higher heels will be searched further. Students must choose to wear comfortable and casual clothing so that they can be quickly searched and secured, so that their security checks are faster and avoid wasting time and money.
As a relief for candidates, transparent water bottles will be allowed inside the examination centres. The NTA has recognised the need for hydration during the lengthy examination and has allowed students to carry only clear water bottles that can be easily checked during security checks.
Several electronic and metallic items are being banned at the same time by the agency. Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, earphones, communication gadgets, etc., are prohibited inside examination premises. Candidates who are found with such devices are prohibited from passing the examination and can be disqualified.
In addition to that, bulky jewellery and metallic accessories have been banned as they could interfere with the security screening process. The NTA has advised candidates not to bring anything that could hinder or delay security checks, and they are not allowed to be a hindrance. All candidates should be screened before entering the venue, and candidates must be subject to the required security check of all applicants, examination authorities have said.
Students have been advised to reach their examination centres well before the reporting time. Arriving early will give sufficient time for document verification, security checks and seating arrangements. Late arrivals may not be allowed to enter once the examination starts, authorities had warned.
As NEET re-examination is now being closely monitored, the NTA is keen to ensure fairness, transparency and equal opportunity for all candidates. Aspirants are advised to read the official instructions and cooperate with the authorities to ensure a smooth and hassle-free examination process.
