The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially declared the NEET UG 2026 result and is providing relief and excitement to nearly 20 lakh medical aspirants across the country. Candidates who appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) can now check and download their scorecards from the official website, neet.nta.nic.in.
This year's results are fantastic, and Aryan Gupta of Punjab and Panshul Bansal of Haryana jointly secured the highest score of 715 out of 720 marks and emerged as the top scorers in the country.
According to the NTA data, more than 11.21 lakh candidates have been selected for MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, veterinary, and other allied medical courses in India. The examination remains one of the most competitive entrance tests in the country, serving as the gateway to undergraduate medical education.
This year’s NEET UG examination saw a remarkable improvement in top scores. 19 candidates scored above 700 marks, and the overall performance of the country's brightest medical aspirants is very good. Additionally, around 1,492 candidates scored 650 and above, while more than 10,000 candidates scored above 600, which is also a sign of the competition for top medical institutions.
The NTA also reported that women had a strong performance in this year’s examination. In this year’s examination, 58 per cent of the qualified candidates are female, underscoring the growing representation of women in India’s medical education landscape. Female candidates also had a slightly higher qualification rate than male candidates.
At the official NEET website, the candidates can check their scorecards by entering their application number, date of birth, and security credentials. The scorecard contains important details, including subject-wise marks, percentile score, All India Rank (AIR), category rank, and qualification status. This will be the basis for the counselling of the MCC and various state authorities to come to the result.
Results are the start of the next phase in the admission process. Qualified candidates will now prepare for counselling and seat allocation rounds for admission to medical and dental colleges across the country. The counselling schedule, seat matrix, and registration details are expected to be announced by the relevant authorities shortly.
Educational experts say this year's performance trends point to a very competitive exam environment with excellent preparation levels, and students are still able to stand a chance despite difficulty in one of the toughest entrance examinations. Aryan Gupta and Panshul Bansal are being celebrated nationwide as they have set the bar for NEET UG 2026.
Students are advised to download and preserve multiple copies of their scorecards and keep track of official announcements on counselling, document verification, and admission procedures.
