A 24-year-old youth was shot four times in a late-night firing incident in Patna, Bihar, and was critically wounded and hospitalised, police said. The shooting took place in the Jyotishi Path area of Ramkrishna Nagar around 10 p.m. (August 11).
The boy who was injured was Shubham Kumar Yadav, a property dealer, police said.
According to initial reports, the incident took place at 10:30 pm near Bhupatipur Jyotish Baba Road. Yadav was out for a walk and was talking on his mobile phone when motorcycle-borne assailants approached him. The attackers opened fire before fleeing from the area.
Yadav sustained four bullet injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. His condition is said to be critical, and this is worrying for his family and investigators.
Police teams went to the site and began gathering evidence after the shooting. The investigation is now into the nature of the attack and the path taken by the attackers and the victim’s movements before the shooting.
CCTV footage will play a critical role in the investigation, police said. Police are looking at cameras in the area and around the area to locate the attackers and track them before and after firing.
