Shimla, Himachal Pradesh: Heavy rainfall is continuing to pour in Shimla since early morning after which the State Government has issued advisories as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of more rain across the state where the state has been forecast for the day, it said.
In some places normal life is affected by the heavy showers and landslides, waterlogging and road accidents are expected.
Light to moderate rainfall is expected to continue in several districts of Himachal Pradesh in the next four hours, according to IMD. The ongoing rainfall has made roads slippery and visibility in many parts of Shimla has been reduced.
Commuters must also be careful driving, and local authorities are monitoring areas prone to landslides and flash floods. Emergency response teams have been put on standby for any weather-related incidents.
The governor’s office has asked those living near rivers, streams and hilly slopes to be vigilant and warned of risks of landslides and falling rocks that can cause road blocks and damage infrastructure in mountainous areas.
Travelers who plan to travel to Himachal Pradesh should check weather updates before starting their journey, officials said.
