The child has been identified as Rishya, the six-year-old son of Pragath, a resident of Gundugadde village.

Tragedy Strikes During Playtime

According to initial information, Rishya was playing near his house, as he did most days. As he played, the child wandered onto the nearby road, police said. At the same time, a car traveling through the area hit the boy.

The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the child with critical injuries. Family members and residents rushed him to a nearby hospital to save his life.

But Rishya died before he could be brought in to receive emergency medical treatment, leaving his parents devastated.

Family and Village in Mourning

The sudden loss of the young child has plunged the whole village into grief. Relatives, neighbours, and villagers had gathered at the family’s residence to console the bereaved parents.

Witnesses said the child was happily playing just moments before the accident, making the tragedy even more painful for those who were there.

The grieving parents’ cries moved many in the village, and residents spoke of the loss of the family as an unimaginable loss to them.

Police Begin Investigation

After the accident, local police arrived and began an investigation into the circumstances leading to the crash.

Officials will investigate whether the vehicle was driving too fast and whether negligence was responsible for that. Eyewitness accounts and the driver will likely be recorded as part of the investigation.

Based on the conclusions of the inquiry, further legal action will be taken following the results of the inquiry.

Road Safety Concerns

The tragedy has once again highlighted the importance of road safety in residential areas where children often play near roads.

Residents have asked the authorities to implement traffic-calming measures (speed breakers, warning signs, and more speed enforcement on village roads) to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Road safety professionals also advise drivers to be particularly careful when driving through residential areas, school zones, and village roads where children may suddenly appear on the roadway.

A Painful Reminder

The death of little Rishya serves as a tragic reminder of how a moment's lapse can lead to irreversible consequences. While we continue to support the grieving family, we urge people to drive with care and in a safe way to protect young lives.

The police have asked motorists to be vigilant and stick to speed limits in areas where children are likely to be present, especially in areas where they may be out when driving by.
