In the meantime, the tragedy of a fireworks assembly line in the Theni area, it was reported that two employees were killed cause the small industrial units in their safety of manufacturing at small scale is questioned. The [date not known] accident sent shock waves throughout the community and brought immediate services on arrival.
The explosion was believed to have been at a firecracker plant where fireworks men stood near explosives. The blast wrought severe damage to a structure that caught people trapped in it and caused fire. Two workers died on the ground after the explosion was too violent; not one of them was injured until much later, and many others died.
Outside, they heard a boom and saw that smoke immediately spread upwards from their factory building. Panic rolled with it, people rushed to the scene looking for help and called for their services. Fire and rescue crews were quick to arrive at the scene and put out the flames. Officials said an investigation has been opened now into exactly what caused the explosion, they said.
There are also, of course, early worries about whether explosive chemical processing may not have been properly handled (or worse, a security issue). They are also wondering whether the factory had the requisite licenses and followed policies about using firecracker materials.
Constructing a firecracker is a high-risk activity; therefore, safety measures will need to be adhered to in strict adherence, after all. But accidents still occur in many sections of India, often due to no one caring for them, the workspaces being packed or the workers being less-than-trained.
The bodies of the dead have been placed for postmortem examination, and family members are being notified and consulted on the status of the remains. Officials said more than adequate compensation will go toward the families of those affected and will also hit the bad guys for the errors they say.
District officials are required to inspect comparable units across the region and ensure these don’t happen in the future. District officials should proceed with even more caution so that an accident like this does not occur again. If the tragedy creates so much disruption, safety audits and guideline enforcement should be taken into account with confidence.
The incident can make a particularly bad impression on industrial fire drills that have become far more secure today than they were before. The investigation would continue, and now would be focused on holding those responsible and ensuring that such vast numbers of lives aren’t lost.
