There is a chilling story: a group of fifteen children at a state residential school in Telangana who have allegedly been subjected to corporal punishment, reportedly by the principal. This is a disturbing case of child protection and discipline in schools: the incident occurred in Jogulamba Gadwal district. It happened at Jyotirao Phule Gurukul School, Alampur Chaurasta, Undavelli mandal, reportedly.
The children were in trouble because they took books out of Class 10 and were not permitted to carry them around, the reports showed. A subsequent video, posted on social media, depicts a group of students who seem to have visible markings on their legs, though they say those markings were made in the heat of caning.

Parents, activists, and individuals have all criticized corporal punishment and issued complaints and most of these complaints were hostile, even now, when rules have made it illegal in schools. He caned the students as numerous as several times in an effort to discipline them, and the principal is said to have struck students repeatedly.
The incident is currently being investigated but the online videos have sparked calls for accountability and consequences for those involved. It has been illegal to beat a student in schools under Indian laws on child protection for many years, but corporal punishment is an open sore as to whether it qualifies under the area of abuse of human rights. Physical punishment can cause serious physical injuries to children’s bodies and even long-term damages not only to their self-confidence but also to their mental conditions and spirits.
They could launch an overall investigation into them, in the process of which local authorities have power to take years. The department of education in charge will also assist with the investigation. So parents and the public have urged that the administration take drastic steps to make sure this kind of thing doesn’t happen all over again.
So that decision was just the latest signal of this new interest, very focused, in how to do a legitimate way to enact and enforce child protection policy, a policy that the school has in place at least. The reason we do that is when you have to protect yourself from danger, even a violent act will not be tolerated because safety is a right and your school is a safe place where you can grow up.
