Another shocking incident happened at Kotapalli Mandal in Telangana’s Mancherial district as a woman was seriously injured after her husband bit her nose during a family dispute. According to the information available, apart from having part of the woman’s nose cut off, the woman’s left side was also injured.
The injured woman has been identified as Mamatha. She was taken to MGM Hospital in Warangal for medical treatment after the incident. The extent of her injuries required hospitalisation, and she is currently in medical care.
According to police information and family claims, Mamatha married Mani Chandra of Mallampet around nine years ago. The couple has two daughters.
Mamatha’s family claims she has been harassed by her husband for the last four years over demands for more dowry. They have also alleged that Mani Chandra would drink alcohol and get into arguments with his wife.
The latest incident followed another dispute between the couple. Mamatha is said to have gone back to her parents' home with her two daughters after the argument.
According to the police account, Mani Chandra later went to his in-laws’ house with members of his family. There was reportedly a fight at the house in which Mani Chandra tried to attack Mamatha’s father, Narayana.
Mamatha intervened when she saw her father being threatened or attacked. Mani Chandra allegedly bit her nose with force. The assault reportedly caused some of the upper part of her nose to be cut off, and she suffered severe facial injury.
Family members and others then arranged for Mamatha to receive medical treatment. She was later admitted to MGM Hospital in Warangal for further treatment.
The incident has attracted attention because of the alleged assault. Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and have started an investigation to establish the circumstances that led to the confrontation.
Kotapalli police are investigating the case, with Sub-Inspector Rajasekhar heading the investigation. The injured woman, family members and others who might have seen the incident are expected to give statements to investigators.
