Viral Reddit Post: Techie Exposes 'Toxic' CEO Who Forces 14-Hour Workdays, Threatens Teams.

A graphic account of workplace toxicity has rocked social media after a software developer disclosed the dire conditions in their company. The tech worker said they are faced with grueling 14-hour workdays (including weekends) and regular personal humiliation and professional threats from the company’s CEO.

The developer felt besieged by the hostile environment, and turned to Reddit to seek advice on whether to endure the abuse or quit right now. The post has quickly spread and has been widely shared on the Web and has fueled a heated debate over corporate exploitation and mental health—a lot of the discourse in the social media community about corporate abuse and mental health.

Moving Targets and Incomplete Data

The viral post said the developer has been constantly moved around between projects since joining the firm and hadn’t ever completed a task. The tipping point came in a client-facing data mapping project where the CEO, who is the direct manager, provided the logic for the team to implement.

After the team had applied the method and submitted the result, the client said that the mapping was inaccurate due to incomplete data sets provided to the developers. The CEO didn't even talk about the client's data issues or the technical difficulties in the system but rather put all responsibility on the engineering team.

Attacks on Education, Families, and Self-Worth

We found that the feedback quickly moved from a constructive critique to deeply personal warfare, the techie said.

The developer wrote: “His behaviour in meetings has been so personal and humiliating in the past week. He also threatens to remove the entire team. This is not feedback about the work anymore. He attacks our education, families, abilities, and self-worth."

The CEO often shifts instructions mid-project and eventually penalizes the team for failing to deliver new, uncommunicated results, said the worker. Such a volatile management style is worsened by long working hours. The team usually logs hours from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM seven days a week. The team even had to work all day on a recent Sunday that was spent at home, and were accused of insubordination and laziness in Monday morning meetings.

"I am mentally and physically exhausted," the techie said, adding that the relentless schedule leaves zero time for rest, upskilling, or preparing for job applications.

Social Media Uniformly Urges Swift Resignation

The online community rallied to show solidarity and all of them advised the developer to resign so that they wouldn't be injured.

"The person has a personality problem. Probably needs therapy," one user said. “Not worth going on if you have no financial liability. There is nothing to change in this place.” Another professional posted about their own experiences of dealing with toxic bosses: “If you can afford to resign, please resign. I was in the same boat. I was questioning my 7 years of experience and changed as a person. Nothing is more important than your mental peace,” another user said. “Working for a person who doesn’t treat you like a human gives him more power and takes away your confidence."

Our viral conversation is growing in response to growing demands in the tech industry for tougher labor enforcement, more structured HR intervention channels, and more protection for remote and in-office white-collar workers in the face of systemic executive abuse.
