A major controversy has erupted in Andhra Pradesh as the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has demanded the removal of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman B.R. Naidu. This comes after alleged videos and pictures of him surfaced on social media, which the party claims are inappropriate and unfit for someone holding such a sacred position. The issue has sparked heated debate, with YSRCP leaders calling for strict action while Naidu insists the content is fake and malicious.
According to YSRCP leaders, the videos show the TTD Chairman in compromising situations. Former TTD Chairman and YSRCP leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy stated that a person with “no moral values” should not occupy such a pious role. He demanded that Naidu resign immediately or be sacked by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to protect the sanctity of Tirumala.
Reddy further argued that claiming the videos are “deepfakes” will not convince the public. He insisted that criminal proceedings should be initiated against Naidu, adding that never in the history of TTD have such immoral acts come to light.
The YSR Congress Party has said the videos have hurt the sentiments of Hindus. In a statement, the party described the exposure as “God’s punishment” for Naidu, accusing him of trying to tarnish the image of their leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu has strongly denied the allegations. He described the videos as “deepfake and morphed with malicious intent” aimed at defaming him. Naidu said he has filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police and will pursue legal action against those spreading the material.
He explained that the families involved have known each other for decades and insisted that there was nothing immoral or obscene in the actual content. Naidu also stated that he would resign if the Chief Minister asked him to, but maintained his innocence.
The controversy has placed the TTD, one of the most revered religious institutions in India, at the center of a political storm. While YSRCP demands immediate removal and criminal action, Naidu continues to defend himself against what he calls fabricated propaganda. The final decision now rests with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who will have to weigh the sanctity of Tirumala against the claims of deepfake manipulation.
