Brydon Carse has come under fire after footage from social media (which was posted by the cricketer himself) showed him being led away in handcuffs from a nightclub in Derby. The incident was reported on Saturday night, August 22, and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has launched an investigation.
And Carse was briefly detained by police outside a nightclub following Durham's County Championship match against Derbyshire, according to reports. He was not arrested and was released without charge. The true circumstances for the England fast bowler to be taken into handcuffs are not yet known and it is premature to draw conclusions.
A video circulating online appears to show Carse surrounded by police officers outside the venue. Durham and England teammate Matthew Potts was also visible in the footage, while former England captain Ben Stokes could be seen in the background. There has been no suggestion in existing reports that Stokes was involved in any misconduct.
The incident occurred after Carse had represented Durham in their County Championship match against Derbyshire. He was released from England's squad to play for his county after not being selected in the playing XI for the first Test against Pakistan at Headingley. Carse remains an important member of England's bowling team.
