Cristiano Ronaldo’s eldest son Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. has followed in the footsteps of his father and is now in the youth side of the Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr. He made his first competitive debut in early 2023 with the club, and then joined the club’s youth team, Al Nassr U-13, later in the year. The Portuguese legend was seen watching his son train and it was very much to see his son develop, physically and with his future in the sport.
Cristiano, speaking about his son’s development, openly admitted to the challenges and opportunities young players face in today’s academies. Ronaldo also praised his son for being grounded and mentally strong, and for having a physique that is comparable to what the veteran forward experienced at the exact same age. Ronaldo Jr. is now bigger and stronger than he was when he was in his youth, and it is predicted that the young man will also get taller and stronger. But he also acknowledged the psychological impediments of professional sports and that the lifelong hunger and drive is the biggest hurdle for anyone who wants to become the ultimate superstar in football.
The young forward has already spent time in some of European football's elite institutions. Before he moved to the Middle East, Ronaldo Jr. was in the Manchester United Academy and was there when his father made his emotional return to Old Trafford. That chapter concluded when the senior player left the club, but the young talent moved on. It was recently revealed that he had been training with Real Madrid's U-16 team, where his father won sixteen major honors during a great career. Ronaldo Jr. has already started to make his name abroad and as a young player he has played for the Portugal U-15 and U-16 national youth teams since he made his first international appearance.
As the younger generation is building the foundations for their career, the father reflects on the end of his own career, and he’s going to go away with his legacy. Cristiano Ronaldo still hasn’t really announced he is quitting the game fully, but he hasn’t been completely ruled out of international football yet, so he has a great deal of peace of mind and an amazing passion for that. Having made his first World Cup appearance in 2006, Ronaldo played in six World Cups and ultimately made his name as a player that will be etched in the history of international football as his son is going to carry on the flame.
