Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have completed a major player exchange with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027. Four players — England all-rounder Liam Livingstone and Indian left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed were traded today. The trade was announced by CSK on Friday, November 6, 2026.
Livingstone and Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards will go to Chennai Super Kings while Khaleel Ahmed and Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis join Sunrisers Hyderabad. It is a big squad reshuffle for both franchises ahead of the IPL season.
CSK and SRH Complete Four-Player Exchange
As per the trade announcement shared by Chennai Super Kings, both franchises have agreed to swap two players each.
The four-player deal is structured as follows:
- CSK receive: Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards.
- SRH receive: Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis.
The deal gives Chennai some options in the batting and all-rounder departments while Hyderabad add to their pace bowling resources.
Livingstone reportedly joins CSK for Rs 6 crore (Rs 13 crore Sunrisers Hyderabad paid to acquire him) instead of the Rs 10 crore he was bought for. Jack Edwards moves for his existing fee of Rs 3 crore.
Liam Livingstone Brings Power-Hitting Experience to CSK
Liam Livingstone is expected to give Chennai more firepower in the middle order.
The England international is aggressive with the bat and gets boundaries against pace as well as spin. He can also bowl leg-spin and off spin which gives the captain more options.
However Livingstone had a poor IPL 2026 with Sunrisers Hyderabad. He scored just 15 runs in two games before losing his place in the playing combination.
CSK will be hoping that a change of franchise and a fresh opportunity give the experienced all-rounder his best form back.
Jack Edwards Adds Another All-Round Option
Australian cricketer Jack Edwards is the second player to move from Hyderabad to Chennai.
Edwards is a seam-bowling all-rounder who can bat and bowl. He missed IPL 2026 due to foot injury.
His addition gives Chennai another overseas all-rounder option as the franchise continues to build its squad for next season.

Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis Join SRH
Sunrisers Hyderabad will get Indian left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed and Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis in the trade.
Khaleel brings domestic and international experience to Hyderabad’s bowling attack. Left-arm pace offers variation and can be handy in powerplay and middle overs.
Nathan Ellis, meanwhile, is known for his variations and death-over bowling. The Australian fast bowler can give Hyderabad another option for pressure situations.
Having both players available might give SRH more options in choosing their bowling combination.
IPL 2027 Preparations Gather Momentum
The four-way trade shows how franchises are restructuring their squads for IPL 2027.
With the retention deadline coming up on November 17, 2026 teams are looking at their combinations and changing them depending on what they need.
CSK’s middle-order might benefit from Livingstone’s arrival, SRH have two more pace bowlers (Khaleel and Ellis) now as well.
Both franchises will now want to make the most of their revamped squads as preparations for IPL 2027 continue.
